It’s a woman’s world at Allianz

Wong says the women in Allianz Malaysia’s talent pool have excelled in showcasing leadership culture.

DIVERSITY has always been an integral part of Allianz Malaysia’s story, with 68% of women making up the 1,861-strong workforce at Allianz Malaysia.

In Malaysia, female participation in the workforce climbed to 54.1% in 2015, an increase of 750,000 women from 46.8% in 2010. According to Bursa Malaysia, last year, 28.4% of top management positions in the top 100 public-listed companies (PLCs) were held by women, an increase of 4.4% since 2013.

“We have always been committed towards diversity and career development for women.

“For a good 10 years now, women in our talent pool have excelled in showcasing leadership culture that has seen them rise up the ranks and assuming decision-making roles,” said Allianz Malaysia Bhd human resources head Wong Woon Man.

“It always makes for great conversation and most people are often impressed by our numbers.”

In fact, in 2015, Allianz had more women managers in its workforce – Allianz Malaysia (66%), Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Bhd (53%) and Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd (65%), a number that has steadily grown over the years.

Globally, Allianz boasts 54% of women at the workplace, with 37% of them occupying managerial roles. Also, there are at least 50% or more women in the workforce in Eastern Europe (68%), Asia Pacific (55%), South America (55%) and the rest of Europe (54%).
