Kitchen retail boss wins best CEO award

SIGNATURE International Bhd’s group managing director Tan Kee Choong (pic) was awarded the BEST CEO award at the inaugural Best Under Billion Awards 2015 in Kuala Lumpur.

The Focus Malaysia Best Under Billion (BUB) Awards programme was organised to recognise top-performing listed companies on Bursa Malaysia.

Also honoured were 14 companies in seven other categories.

The awards analysed the best mid- and small-cap companies, essentially those with market capitalisation under RM1bil on Bursa Malaysia.

The awards included a Best CEO category with the aim of highlighting not just the businesses, but also the personalities behind them.

The Best CEO category takes into account personalities that displayed dynamism, leadership as well as strong business and management acumen. On a broader level, the panel of judges also analysed how CEOs steered their companies to greater heights.

Tan, together with co-founder Datuk Michael Chooi, has been instrumental in the growth of the company and the Signature Kitchen brand since its was established in 1994.

Signature Kitchen has grown to become the country’s leading kitchen retail network with a substantial presence across 15 countries in both retail and corporate project segments.

The award follows Signature International’s other achievements including being among the Top 10 Winners for the Enterprise 50 Award, which honours achievements of enterprising SMEs in 2006.

Signature International was also featured as one of 15 Malaysian success stories in new market establishment in the Malaysian edition of the Blue Ocean Strategy Book.
