Players soldiered on despite slippery and challenging conditions

In full flight: STAR Ipoh player Kamarul Nizam Alang Ahmad (holding ball) trying to evade his VI opponents during the final match of the Under-15 category, which was tied even after sudden death and penalty kicks, and eventually had to be decided by a coin-toss, of which STAR came out the lucky winners.

PLAYERS and supporters of Victoria Institution (VI) will remember this year’s VI Premier 10 Rugby tournament for a long time as the school’s Under-15 and Under-17 teams both reached the Cup Division finals.

While the younger boys lost out on the toss of a coin, their Under-17s side beat Sekolah Menengah Sains Hulu Selangor (Semashur) to claim the Dr G.E.D. Lews Challenge trophy, named for one of VI’s most famous headmasters.
