FIVE districts in Johor will play host to “Pentas Seni Johor Tour” celebrating the state’s arts, culture and heritage, until the end of the year.
Johor Corporation Foundation (Yayasan JCorp) chief executive officer Datuk Mizan Yahya said the tour, which kicked off in Pontian last month, would next head to Segamat, Batu Pahat, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru.
“The initiative, in conjunction with Visit Johor 2026 and Visit Malaysia 2026, provides an integrated platform to connect and promote the distinctive cultural offerings of Johor’s districts under a shared state narrative.
“The programme aims to strengthen Johor’s cultural identity, deepen community participation, create economic opportunities for local artists, artisans and creative entrepreneurs and also promote cultural tourism across the state,” he said in a media statement.
Mizan said each district represented a distinctive cultural showcase reflecting its traditions, stories, creativity and local character.
The tour’s first stop in Pontian highlighted the district’s Bugis heritage through “Festival Rumpun Bugis Johor”.
The two-day event featured traditional performances, cultural showcases and workshops, heritage competitions, culinary demonstrations, creative marketplaces and immersive community experiences.
Mizan said “Pentas Seni Johor Tour” will be in Segamat from Sept 25 to 27, followed by Batu Pahat on Oct 30 and 31 and Kota Tinggi on Nov 14 and 15, before the grand finale in Johor Baru on Dec 19 and 20.
State unity, heritage and culture committee chairman P. Pannir Selvam, who launched the programme, said such efforts to strengthen and uphold Johor’s heritage were important to ensure it was passed on to future generations.
Since its introduction in 2024, “Pentas Seni Johor” has expanded into a district-based tour that marks a new chapter for the programme, enabling each location to reflect the distinctive character, traditions and creative offerings of its local community.
The programme is supported by the Culture and Arts Department, Tourism Johor, Tourism Malaysia and Johor State Cultural Council.
