A PROPERTY developer has launched an environmental initiative in conjunction with World Environment Day 2026.

Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd’s #MatrixForGreen was set in motion at d’Tempat Country Club in Bandar Sri Sendayan, Negri Sembilan.

The initiative, the company said, aligned with its belief that creating a thriving community required looking beyond physical infrastructure.

Group executive director and chief financial officer Louis Tan said #MatrixForGreen reflected a continued commitment to creating environmental awareness.

“At Matrix Concepts, we believe that caring for people also means caring for the environment they live in.

“Sustainability begins with awareness, education and collective participation, and we hope initiatives such as #MatrixFor-Green can encourage more families and the younger generation to adopt environmentally responsible habits in their everyday lives,” he said.

The event was attended by Matrix Concepts co-chief executive officer Tan Sze Chee and SWM Environment Malaysia corporate affairs general manager Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin.

A series of events and environmental awareness sessions were also conducted at participating schools in Bandar Sri Sendayan – SK Bandar Sri Sendayan, SJK (T) Bandar Sri Sendayan, SJK (C) Bandar Sri Sendayan and Adcote Matrix Malaysia.

Students were introduced to practical sustainability concepts, including waste segregation, responsible daily habits and recycling awareness, helping them better understand the role they play in protecting the environment.

A key highlight of the programme was a live plastic upcycling demonstration where students witnessed how discarded plastic bottle caps could be cleaned, processed and transformed into new products.

By connecting classroom learning with real-life applications, the sessions help reinforce the idea that everyday waste can be given a second life through responsible consumption and recycling.

“#MatrixForGreen will serve as a platform for future sustainability-focused programmes, educational activities and collaborations that contribute towards building greener and more resilient communities,” said Louis.

In a media statement, the company said it had introduced various sustainability and community-driven initiatives across its ecosystem over the years.

Among such efforts are the expansion of the KITARecycle programme and fabric recycling collaborations in Bandar Sri Sendayan as well as and Bandar Seri Impian in Johor.
