Flash floods hit NPE, Taman Buana Perdana following heavy rain

TRAFFIC came to a halt on the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) due to a reported flash flood following a downpour at about 5pm on Wednesday (Feb 25).

The Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA), on its social media page, reported that KM18.9 eastbound at the Maju Jaya U-turn near Jalan Kelang Lama was inundated, causing traffic to build up.

Meanwhile, about 30cm of floodwaters were stagnant at the Taman Buana Perdana neighbourhood in Petaling Jaya.

Taman Buana Perdana Residents’ Association chairman N. Rajaratnam said that although roads were flooded, water had not entered the houses.

“Firemen in the neighbourhood are on standby in case the situation worsens,” he told StarMetro.
