The flutter of Jalur Gemilang big and small accompanied Penang’s National Month celebration which kicked off with a convoy in George Town.

The fleet of 15 vehicles representing state and federal agencies took off from Caring Society Complex in Jalan Utama, passing through Penang Road and Chowrasta Road among others, before ending at Penang Hill.

“We should display the Jalur Gemilang proudly at home and on our vehicles,” Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said after launching the state-level celebration as well as the “Fly the Jalur Gemilang” campaign.

Chow said Penang was honoured to hold two significant national events this year – National Unity Week 2025 last month and the upcoming national-level Malaysia Day Celebration on Sept 16.

He also encouraged Penangites to take part in the National Day parade and procession on Aug 31, the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16 and other programmes aimed at strengthening national pride.
