THERE are no tracking chips installed in the free 120-litre mobile rubbish bins distributed to landed property owners in Subang Jaya, Selangor.

A spokesperson from Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) made this clarification in response to a StarMetro article titled "Bins with trackers for Subang Jaya" published on Aug 4.

In the article, MBSJ zone 22 councillor Tey Boon Kiat was quoted as saying that the bins were fitted with chips to help KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) track if contractors followed the collection schedule.

MBSJ had rolled out 34,000 free mobile rubbish bins for owners who have paid their assessment tax on time, and it will be distributed in two phases, according to Seri Kembangan assemblyman Wong Siew Ki.

The first phase of bin distribution began on July 26 for those who have paid their assessment tax from Jan 1 to April 30, which is the first term, this year, according to MBSJ's social media pages.

A total of 11,000 bins were allocated for this phase.

Meanwhile, the remaining 23,000 bins for the second phase would be distributed to those who pay their assessment tax between May 1 and Aug 31, which is the second term, this year.
