IT WAS a feast for the senses and race against the clock as some 100 people descended on Ipoh for the Kinta Food Hero 2.0 challenge in Perak.
Organised by Junior Chambers International (JCI) Kinta at the People’s Park, the treasure-hunt style race saw groups of four scour the city’s eateries.
Participants were required to complete interactive challenges while sampling food at more than 20 premises, which included traditional coffeeshops and modern cafes.
Event organising chairman Jeff Lim said the event was a celebration of Ipoh’s identity as a food city.
“We are incredibly thankful for the strong participation and support shown by the public, our partners, and sponsors.
“Kinta Food Hero 2.0 was not just a race, it was a meaningful celebration of Ipoh’s identity, bringing together people, culture, and community through the love of food,” he said in his speech.
JCI Kinta local president Irvin Ho said that the event was about celebrating Ipoh’s rich culture and community spirit.
“It’s also about bringing together communities and to support local businesses, which make Ipoh special,” he said.
The champion won RM1,000, while the first runner-up won a two-day, one-night stay at a retreat in Chui Chak, Teluk Intan, and the second runner-up, a premium tea package.
There were also 16 lucky draw prizes given to the participants.
Also present were Pasir Pinji assemblyman Goh See Hua and Ipoh City councillor Wong Kar Keat.
