Six areas in Wangsa Maju affected by flash floods

SIX AREAS in Wangsa Maju were affected by flash floods following a heavy downpour this evening.

Wangsa Maju MP Zahir Hassan said the six areas were Jalan Genting Klang, Bazaria Wangsa Maju, Kampung Bandar Dalam, Taman Perumahan Danau Kota ( formerly Setapak Garden), the road in front SJKC Lee Rubber and Taman P.Ramlee.

“The flash flood lasted between 20 to 30 minutes.

“Members of our residents representative committee are now on the ground to assess the situation. For now, we have not received any reports of stalled vehicles, casualties or property damage,” said Zahir.

“We suspect that a clog in the drainage system could have caused the floods. We hope that due maintenance can be carried out to find the clog,” said Zahir.

Zahir added that the last time a flash flood occurred in Wangsa Maju was mid last year at Jalan Genting Klang.

KL Advisory Board Member Andre Lai said the the flash flood happened only momentarily at Taman Ibukota, Taman Setapak and Taman Danau Kota commercial area.

"The water had risen into the porch of the residential houses in Taman Setapak but the water had also subsided quickly,"

When contacted the Wangsa Maju Bomba station said no emergency reports were received from that area.
