Ipoh old folks home looking for family of resident

Ipoh

IPOH: An old folks home in Canning Garden here is looking for the family members or relatives of a resident.

Sri Cahaya Care Centre administrator Tham Mee Chan said the kin of 76-year-old Vong Kui Ying were no longer contactable since a few months before the movement control order in 2020.

Tham said Kui Ying was sent to her centre by her elder brother in 2008.

"He and a few family members had remained in contact until a few months before the MCO.

"The last time we tried to call the brother again was in May last year but the call could not get through," she said in a press conference at Canning assemblyman Jenny Choy's service centre on Friday (jan 19).

"We are worried something might have happened to the brother or if something were to happen to Kui Ying, we are unable to reach out to her family members," she said, adding that Kui Ying was a former psychiatric patient at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta.

"Kui Ying's last known address is at No 28, Jalan Kamarudin, Kuala Kubu Baru in Selangor," she added.

Tham said she also has a calling card belonging to Kui Ying's nephew, whom she knew as Vong Ngu Chai, who is believed to operate a workshop in Taman Sri Rampai, Setapak.

"We receive the fee for Kui Ying's stay at our centre from Ngu Chai.

"Sometimes, we get the payment, sometimes we don't," she said, adding that the last payment was received in November last year.

"We have tried to reach out to Ngu Chai as well but calls made to his contact number also could not get through.

"We hope that the nephew can reach out to us or if someone may have contact information about Kui Ying's kin to inform us," said Tham, adding that she can be contacted at 016-567 7565.

"We've even lodged a police report in September last year, hoping to find Kui Ying's family members," she added.
