RESIDENTS can expect better services from Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) in Sarawak.

“We want to improve our services,” said its chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai at the distribution of SRDC’s 2024 calendar.

He said council officers would “turun padang” (go to the ground) more often to get to know residents and their problems.

Sempurai stressed that only by going to the ground could SRDC provide better services to the people.

“There are a lot of complaints about drains, roads and the rearing of poultry in the backyard of houses.”

He said SRDC aimed to minimise complaints on these issues.

Sempurai urged ratepayers to bring the issues to the attention of councillors before going on social media.

On the distribution of the calendar, Sempurai said it was to introduce SRDC’s councillors, especially the 14 newly appointed ones.

“The councillors are divided into several zones and their names and contact numbers are printed on the calendars.”
