Dr Zaliha visiting Menara DBKL to learn more about pressing issues affecting the city.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL)is expected to table a deficit budget for next year.

In line with this, newly appointed Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dr Zaliha Mustafa has asked the local authority to come up with counter measures to address the matter.

She attended a briefing on DBKL’s affairs by its top management yesterday during her first visit to Menara DBKL.

“Next year’s budget will focus on socio-economic issues including reducing urban poverty and promoting development that is in line with the Madani concept.

“DBKL will need to find measures to increase its revenue.”

On whether the Federal Territory Department would be a ministry again like in the past, the Sekijang MP said it would remain a department for now.

“The Prime Minister will determine its direction,” she said, adding that she would discuss the matter further with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
