THE launch of the updated VShare in-house portal marks a significant leap forward in enhancing the efficiency of National Library personnel.

Over a decade in the making and developed with the support of Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu), the portal promises enriched user experience and collaborative data sharing, fostering a cultural shift towards knowledge exchange among library personnel.

VShare is a knowledge management development project of the National Library (PNM) developed via PNM Information Technology Strategic Plan 2010-2013.

The upgrade was announced at the Knowledge Management Day programme organised by National Unity Ministry in collaboration with PNM.

PNM deputy director Edy Irwan Zulkafli highlighted the portal’s upgrades, emphasising improvements in user experience and shared usage statistics.

He urged a cultural transformation towards proactive knowledge sharing, underscoring the importance of these changes to meet contemporary information management needs.

“After the upgrade, the system is now staff-friendly with a Microsoft 365 account, including key apps like Microsoft Office and Power BI. These changes are crucial to meet current needs in managing information resources,” he said during the event at Menara PNM.

Edy said PNM’s strategic efforts from 2010 to 2013 positioned it as a benchmark for knowledge management among Malaysian library institutions.

“I hope PNM becomes a model or benchmark for other libraries, setting a standard for collaboration and leadership in our field, namely a smart way to work together,” he said.

The programme included recognition of active members from various divisions for their significant utilisation of VShare throughout the year.

Securities Commission Malaysia’s management department chief deputy executive officer Arief Amron Ariffin also shared insights into organisational benefits of knowledge management.
