KLANG’S Teluk Pulai was hit by 45 minutes of intense rain at 2.15pm that caused water logging which reached above ankle level at the intersection outside of Lorong Sepat 3 and Jalan Teluk Pulai, close to the base of the flyover.
Klang Municipal Council’s Enforcement director Andry Arman Masrom who oversees the Quick Response Team, helped out at Jalan Teluk Pulai, which was plugged with water.
“Our men managed the situation by guiding traffic. Motorists were able to drive through. Others made a U-turn on seeing the waterlogged section of the road and took alternative routes such as Lorong Sepat 3 in Taman Teluk Pulai,” he said.
Andry Arman added that flash floods were common at the base of the flyover.
Shop owner Wong Mei Yin, 58, said despite pre-monsoon drain cleaning work, waterlogging
remains a problem and urged the council to widen the drains to ensure better flow of surface runoff.
The council’s Engineering Department director Zamri Othman said the council is awaiting an allocation of funds to upgrade the infrastructure where the flyover’s base would be raised.
He added that there are also plans to identify an area to build a dry pond in March 2024.
