DBKL announces road closures for Jalan Yew-Jalan Sungai Besi flyover widening project

VARIOUS roads will be closed around Kuala Lumpur for the Jalan Yew-Jalan Sungai Besi flyover widening project.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in a statement said that the ongoing works are expected to be completed by Dec 31 2025.

In the statement, DBKL highlighted a number of traffic diversions and road closures which include Jalan Sungai Besi (near the Fraser Business Park, Southbound towards Petaling Jaya) and the Loke Yew roundabout will be closed by stages starting Sept 30 until Sept 29, 2024:

a) Traffic from Kg Pandan Roundabout heading to Sungai Besi/Petaling Jaya will be diverted into two parts: one route passing alongside Federal Bakery and another entering the opposite lane alongside. (Refer to Attachment 1).

b) Traffic from Sungai Besi/Petaling Jaya heading to Kg Pandan Roundabout will be divided into two: one will take a left at Loke Yew Roundabout and the other will stay on the same route. (Refer to Attachment 2).

c) Loke Yew Roundabout will be closed. Traffic on Jalan Loke Yew from Cheras will only be allowed to make a U-turn heading back to Cheras on Jalan Loke Yew. This traffic modification is permanent. Alternate routes from Cheras to Jalan Sg Besi are via Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua, and Jalan Tiga. For traffic from Cheras heading to Jalan Yew, use the U-turn at the Maharajalela fly-over intersection, the same applies to traffic from Cheras heading to areas around Jalan Yew. d) Loke Yew Roundabout will be closed. Traffic on Jalan Loke Yew from Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Sungai Besi will be rerouted to Jalan Yew heading towards Pudu Roundabout only. The alternative route is via the U-turn at SMK (P) Pudu. This traffic modification is permanent. (Refer to Attachments 4A, 4B, 4C, and 4D).

e) Loke Yew Roundabout will be closed. Traffic on Jalan Yew from Kg Pandan Roundabout heading to Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Kuching will be closed during the construction period. Alternate routes are through Jalan Kg Pandan, Jalan Imbi, and Jalan Hang Tuah. (Refer to Attachment 5).

f) For the demolition of the service road ramp and bridge reconstruction at Pudu Roundabout heading to Jalan Sungai Besi (beside Pudu Police Station), the service road from Jalan Pudu to Jalan Yew will be closed to all traffic during this period. Alternate routes are through Jalan Sg. Besi, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua, and Jalan Tiga. (Refer to Attachments 6A and 6B).
