JOHOR residents who want to throw away their old furniture, can use the SWM Environment Sdn Bhd 2+1 collection system.

SWM Environment corporate general manager Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin spoke about this service for homeowners after attending the Back to School Aid Programme at Dewan Flat Larkin in Johor Baru.

The programme was officiated by Deputy Local Government Development Minister and Johor Baru MP Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir.

“We have a collection system for bulky waste, where homeowners just need to place their unwanted items in front of their house on the collection day,” said Mohd Norlisam.

Meanwhile, Akmal Nasrullah said during his speech that Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) through SWM Environment would continue to share awareness programmes, especially on waste management.

“Awareness is key when we talk about recycling and separation at source.

“Any items that can be recycled will not be sent to the landfills,” he said.

During the programme, 60 pupils from various primary schools in Johor Baru were given backpacks and school uniforms as part of the concessionaire’s corporate social responsibility programme.
