The Education Ministry has been told to resolve two main issues faced by SMK Agama Sibu.

Nangka assemblyman Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee said the two issues involved the dining hall and critical water problem.

“The dining hall is no longer safe due to the soil settling,” he said during a sahur (pre-dawn meal) programme with the school’s students.

The Sarawak Deputy Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister said that he had written a letter to the Education Ministry on the matter.

“I sent an official letter to Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek on April 6, requesting funds to build a new dining hall and to solve the water supply problem at this school,” he said.

Annuar said the Public Works Department (JKR) had also certified that the dining hall was no longer safe for students to use.

“As for the water issue, I was informed that a meeting between school representatives and Sibu Water Board was held recently.

“Immediate steps will be taken,” said Annuar. – By ANDY CHUA
