Fashion Week event celebrates regional talents in style

After a hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Kedah Fashion Week (KFW) returned to highlight the diverse and innovative Southeast Asian fashion scene.

The fashion showcase held at Aman Central in Alor Setar featured 12 distinguished brands, 16 renowned designers and eight revolutionary local designers.

Celebrity Natasha Hudson acted as the emcee when the fashion week kicked off with a showcase of local fashion designers’ work at 3pm, followed by a mall tenants’ runway at 5pm.

Among the participating lifestyle brands were Icahfa, Qaira Hijab, Fana Couture, HLA, Parkson, Nuwav, Teva, Birkenstock, Studio, Steve Madden, Swarovski and Sembonia.

A total of 31 runway shows featuring clothing, including sportswear, were held at the three-day event.

Footwear and jewellery were also shown off.

The line-up of talents included renowned designers Hirankrit Pattaraboriboonkul from Thailand and Edwin Ao from the Philippines.

Among the rising names who unveiled their collections were Eugene Chow (Ntrovert), Hooi Ho Mun (Homun Hooi), Jeremy Wong Zi Jin (Jer), Liew Hui Ying (Lhy), Liren (Liren), See Jia Wen (Cappusee), Shawn Wong (SH WN) and Tan Wan Yee (Thewomanofyee).

The event was enlivened by interesting exchanges of ideas amid the glamorous attendees.

They included VIP guests, media partners, sponsors, famous models and fashion influencers.

Among the VIP guests were Miss Global International 2022 Sandra Lim, popular singer Iday and Kedahan celebrity Rozita Che Wan.

The audience and shoppers also enjoyed exciting performances by guest artistes.

They were serenaded by Anugerah Juara Lagu 36 (AJL) singers Marsha Milan Londoh at the fashion showcase gala night and Khai Bahar on Men’s Night, while AJL31 vocalist Dayang NurFaizah performed at the grand finale.

The event closed with a special tribute to “Fashion Icon of KFW22” designer Eric Choong for his 33 years in the industry.

Belleview Group managing director Datuk Sonny Ho said at a press conference earlier that the event would inspire the region’s fashion industry.

Besides organising the fashion week, Aman Central held the “Your Bullet Train to KFW22” contest in partnership with Sony Pictures Malaysia. The winners got to enjoy not only KFW 2022 but also the Bullet Train movie.
