Stick to licensing conditions or risk termination, KL entertainment outlets warned

KUALA Lumpur city authorities are warning entertainment outlet owners and other premises in the city to fully adhere to their licensing conditions or risk having their business licences revoked.

Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said that owners and operators should not take these conditions lightly as action, including termination of their licences, can be taken without prejudice.

“I have instructed Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) enforcement department to consistently monitor entertainment outlets in the city.

“Action will be taken promptly and consistently, based on the existing laws,” he said in a statement.

Between 2021 and March this year, 271 business premises were ordered shut by DBKL for various offences.

For offences at entertainment outlets, action was taken under Sectiona 17, 18, 19, 20 & 21 of the Entertainment Act 1992 (WPKL) and Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1976.

On Friday (April 15), three outlets in Bangsar were ordered to close for conducting entertainment (music) activities without a licence.

“Integrated and comprehensive enforcement of licensing conditions will be carried out continuously,” Jalaluddin added.

The public is urged to channel any information to DBKL via adukl.dbkl.gov.my.
