THE Kuantan 188 tower, which is under new management, is targeting 350,000 visitors this year.
Since it opened on Dec 15, the second tallest tower in the country has already received 45,791 visitors, said its managing director Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad.
“Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Kuantan city and the river. The more adventurous ones can also take part in extreme activities like the skywalk and antenna climb, similar to the activities found at Macau Tower and Taipei 101,” he said at the launch and rebranding of Kuantan 188.
Zulkifli said visitors could experience dining at a height of 98m and the space could also be used for meetings and weddings.
Kuantan 188 is now under the management of Hospitality 360, the hospitality arm of MAA Group Bhd, which took over tower operations on Jan 1.
Deputy Tourism, Culture and Arts Minister Datuk Seri Dr Santhara Kumar said the rebranding to give the tower new life was timely as national borders would be reopening on April 1.
He added that Kuantan 188 would become a landmark showcasing 5G technology.
The launch also saw a new logo being unveiled for Kuantan 188 and the tower receiving certification as a member of the World Federation of Great Towers which includes the Eiffel Tower and the Burj Khalifa among its members.
Also present was Hospitality 360 group chief executive officer and president Datuk Omar Naresh Mohan.
Kuantan 188 was developed by the Federal Government through the East Coast Economic Region Development Council in collaboration with Pahang as part of a series of developments to improve the Kuantan waterfront.
It was handed over to the state in 2020 and inaugurated by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah last year.
The 188-metre high tower was formerly known as Menara Teruntum.
