Food aid, ang pow for 100 needy folk

Aid recipients with the food packs and ang pow they received from Shan De Charity Home in Menglembu, Ipoh.

CHINESE New Year came early for 100 underprivileged people in Ipoh, Perak as they received food aid and ang pow from Shan De Charity Home.

Held at its centre in Menglembu, the recipients each received a bag, containing dry goods, groceries and ang pow.

The recipients included those from impoverished families, the elderly, disabled and single mothers.

Shan De Charity Home chairperson Foong Chee Seng said they were always prepared to help the poor and underprivileged.

“With Chinese New Year approaching, people will need to spend on necessities.”

He said since some of the recipients faced mobility issues, the aid was delivered to their doorsteps.

He added that the organisation had also donated food supplies to flood victims in Bentong, Pahang, as well as Sungai Kelamah in Negri Sembilan.

“We sent about 650 food packs, including rice, biscuits, noodles and beverages, to flood victims in both locations.

“We hope that our donations provide some encouragement to the victims during these tough times,” said Foong.
