Malaysians featured in festive video speak of their hopes for nation over next 10 years

Cuckoo’s video to mark National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations features 12 Malaysians, including Hoe (top row, third from left) and Siti Nurhaliza (top row, fourth from left).

IN conjunction with National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations, Cuckoo International (M) Sdn Bhd has launched a festive video inviting Malaysians to look to the future with hope and optimism.

Titled “Masa Depan Kita, Juang #SAMASAMA” (Our Future, Defend #Together), the video features 12 individuals who speak of their ideas and hopes for Malaysia over the next 10 years.

Among those featured are national shuttlers Aaron-Wooi Yik and Chan Peng Soon, Malaysian actress and singer Janna Nick, Cuckoo ambassador Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and two frontliners who have been part of the aid mission to bring home Malaysians from Wuhan in China, Italy, Indonesia and India during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Every Aug 31 and Sept 16, Malaysians come together to celebrate how far we have come as a nation,” said Cuckoo International Malaysia founder and chief executive officer Hoe Kian Choon.

“But this year, instead of just celebrating the past, we want to look to the future...a brighter future, free from the pandemic.

“As Malaysians, we are hopeful that the country will forever be harmonious and we will be healthier.”

He said that the past year had been shadowed by negativity caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“But we invite Malaysians to see past the negativity and to be positive for a better future.

“And in the true Malaysian spirit, we will Juang #SAMASAMA and overcome challenges together.”

Launched virtually, the video was put together within two weeks despite the various movement restrictions.

The recording was made by the respective “cast” members in their own homes.

In the video, our national shuttlers share their hopes of doing Malaysia proud by winning the elusive gold medal at the Olympics, while the frontliners hope to overcome and stand triumphant over the pandemic.

The others express their wish for a future where people need no longer be apart because of the virus.

“At Cuckoo, we hope to continue empowering communities to live healthier and happier through our innovative healthy home solutions,” said Hoe.

The video was made in collaboration with Juang the movie, the first cinematic project in the country to be helmed by multiple directors and a cast of well-known talents, to share Malaysia’s success story against Covid-19 and honour the nation’s heroic frontliners.

Cast members from the movie who are part of the video are Janna, actor Jack Lim, production manager Radzmi Riko and Vasanthan Raja Mogan, a trained nurse who is Juang’s medical advisor.

The video can be viewed at Cuckoo’s official Facebook page @CuckooInternational.

Viewers are encouraged to leave a positive comment under the video to share the message of hope.
