ALL night markets in Ipoh, Perak, including the Gerbang Malam market, can reopen beginning Sept 15.
Ipoh City Council (MBI) said in a statement that the markets would be able to open daily between 6pm and 10pm, but the timing was subject to change.
Food can be cooked on site but only sold for takeaway.
“Traders cannot set up tables for customers to eat there.
“Those selling clothing cannot allow people to try on the items,” MBI said in the statement.
“Only three customers are allowed at a stall at one time.
“Only one-way movement of people is allowed, except in locations where this is not possible and with supervision from the organiser.”
The statement said market-goers must be fully vaccinated and show their digital Covid-19 vaccination certificate to enter.
“Only two from a family are allowed to enter at one time.
“People in high-risk category such as pregnant women, senior citizens, children under 13 years old and people with symptoms like fever or cough are not allowed to enter.
“The maximum length of time a visitor can be at the market is 20 minutes,” MBI added.
Other standard operating procedures include “check-in” via MySejahtera app or manually in a logbook.
Separately, an MBI spokesperson said a faulty pump in the sewerage treatment plant near the Jalan Silang flats had been fixed.
“It is now functional,” he said when contacted.
It was reported in StarMetro on Sept 7 that residents at the flats were unhappy after seeing MBI workers pumping out sewage from the plant and releasing the “smelly liquid” into a monsoon drain.
Ipoh mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin had stated that a pump at the plant was non-functional and instructed the council’s Sewerage Services Department to repair it.
The spokesperson said the faulty pump had caused effluent in a manhole at the plant to fill up.
“The pump is supposed to siphon away treated effluent into the nearest drain. We had to use a tanker to pump out the treated sewage and release it into the drain,” he said.
