Burger has always been a go-to option in my family when in need of a quick bite.
The secret to a good burger, according to my mother, lies in the generous serving of sauces and fresh vegetables.
So upon hearing about the Pasadena dipping burger, which comes with three sauce options, I was more than eager for a taste.
Cheers2Cheers cafe on the third floor of the Star Boulevard building in Kuala Lumpur is where one will find the American-style burgers oozing with goodness.
Taking a leaf from the city of Pasadena in the US, the home of the first cheeseburger, the fare at Cheers2Cheers is anything but ordinary.
This promotion at Cheers2Cheers, however, is available for dine-in customers until the year end.
Slow jazz tunes playing softly in the background provided the right setting as I sunk my teeth into the juicy burger and was hooked instantly to its full flavours.
I knew then that it was something burger lovers should try.
With fresh and soft muffin buns holding the high-grade Australian beef patty in place, the elements of texture and taste come together perfectly in one bite.
I placed an order for all three sauces – honey cheese, Cajun spicy cheese and habanero Southern Californian cheese.
The way to appreciate this burger is to dip it into the sauce, and let the meat and bun soak it up before you get a taste.
Each sauce is unique.
The habanero Southern Californian cheese is creamy and slightly briny, while the honey cheese offers a pleasant mix of sweet and salty. When I moved on to another sauce, it was like experiencing three different flavours but with only one burger.
The Cajun spicy cheese was my favourite for its perfect blend of spicy, tangy and honeyed taste.
Another special feature of the burger was the cheese slice, served separately and it was fried and crispy.
The idea behind the crispy cheese is to give a bit of crunch with every bite.
The burger is a sizeable portion and perfect for a hungry diner.
Pasadena Burger did not initially plan for a dine-in option when it started off in June, as only the delivery service was available to customers back then.
Customers in Klang Valley could order a set box containing the raw ingredients for two, four, six or eight burgers priced at RM49, RM98, RM144 and RM188, respectively.
Each box contained fresh uncooked patties, buns, salad, tomatoes, slices of fried cheese and some pepper and salt.
But due to encouraging feedback from customers, the brand decided to offer a dine-in option, its general manager HL Tiong said. “We initially started selling and delivering raw ingredients to customers but many began inquiring if they could dine-in.
“They said they preferred to eat the cooked burger instead of making it from scratch.
“So, we decided to partner with Cheers2Cheers to offer the dine-in option for Pasadena burgers, ” she said, adding that the delivery option was still available.
But if you are not sold on the dipping burgers, fret not, because Pasadena also offers the original burger.
It does not come with any sauce to dip in but the burger’s peppery and tasty gourmet meat will win you over.
Unlike its dipping counterpart, this Pasadena is prepared using regular burger buns.
Each Pasadena burger is priced at RM24.50 and the promotion ends Dec 31.
