No smoking, drinking and vaping in Selangor parks and playgrounds

Selangor will be the first state in Malaysia to ban smoking, drinking and vaping in parks and playgrounds with immediate effect.

Offenders face up to RM1,000 in fines if caught, said Selangor local government, public transport and new village development committee chairman Ng Sze Han (pic).

The rule followed an amendment to the Selangor local councils Park Bylaw 2005.

Ng encouraged the public to be the eyes and ears of the local authorities and report to the councils if they see anyone flouting the bylaw.

He made the announcement at a press conference in the state assembly annexe building in Shah Alam on Tuesday (July 14).
