PENANG will host the 1st International Electronics Elite Forum and Run (IEEFR) 2019 from Aug 16 to 18.
The forum, expected to draw more than 300 participants, is co-organised by investPenang and the Shenzhen Terminal Electronics Manufacturing Association (Tema).
IEEFR 2019 is endorsed by Malaysian Investment Develop-ment Authority and undertaken by IEEFR Sdn Bhd and Activelifestyle Concepts Sdn Bhd.
investPenang director Datuk Seri Lee Kah Choon said at a press conference that Penang had become one of the world’s most important electronics manufacturing clusters after nearly 50 years of development.
Shenzhen, added Lee, was an important electronics manufacturing hub in China.
“It has a complete supply chain for various stages.
“It has reached a stage where materials will be able to reach your doorstep within 30 minutes of placing your order.”
Lee said the organisers had extended invitations to about 200 Malaysian industry leaders and 100 Chinese electronic companies.
Companies from the electronics manufacturing sectors in Japan, South Korea, Germany and the United States were also invited to the forum.
“IEEFR 2019 will emphasise the importance of Penang and Malaysia in the global electronics industry.
“Participants will have the opportunity to understand the capability of electronics manufacturing and technology.
“They will also learn about the opportunities available here,” he said.
In addition to the forum, the organising committee will host the inaugural International Electronics Elite Run on Aug 18 to mark the 30th year of Penang Skills Development Centre.
About 2,000 Malaysian and international participants are expected to join the run which will be divided into seven categories.
