SMART electric scooter manufacturer, NIU has launched its first flagship store in Gurney Plaza, Penang, with about 20 units of its NIU N-Series e-scooters.
The company, which originates from Shanghai, China, produces e-scooters with low-carbon
emission and zero noise.
NIU International Company Limited overseas market director Kasper Zhao said they were
dedicated in being the leading
provider of e-scooters.
“We believe that this product can help make the planet better. It is suitable for those who love the green and peaceful environment,” he said at the launch of the NIU E-Bike showroom at the mall.
Mforce Bike Holdings Sdn Bhd general manager of operations Asri Ahmad said they would be the first company to assemble and distribute the e-scooters in Malaysia.
“Penang is the first state to have the new showroom in Malaysia and we strongly hope that the
public will support this product.
“The e-scooter is perfect for those who are concerned about
the environment as it emits zero carbon.
“We also took the step to introduce this innovative product here as it is in line with Penang’s cleaner and greener vision,” he said.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state welcomed and encouraged the use of electric scooters.
“This is specially for Penangites, who are passionate about a green and smart state.
“In line with Penang’s vision for a clean and green state, it is timely and heartening to know that the corporate sector is doing its part in contributing toward this effort.”
NIU Gurney Plaza manager Max Tong said the e-scooters are highly efficient and good for the environment as they do not emit carbon monoxide.
“The e-scooters can easily go up to 70km per hour and they require zero maintenance, as long as you take care of the battery well,” he said.
The NIU N-Series e-scooters are priced at RM8,880 per unit and come in four colours — white, black, blue and red.
