THE Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) will be collaborating with Merchantrade Asia Sdn Bhd and Top Media Resources Sdn Bhd for the upcoming MATTA Fair March 2018.
The travel fair will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur from March 16 to 18.
“We are happy to have Merchantrade as our official money changer for the third time at the 45th edition of the MATTA Fair, and I hope our relationship with the company will last for a long time as it is a win-win situation for both of us.
“As for our mobile app partner – Top Media Resources Sdn Bhd – this is our first collaboration and marks MATTA’s venture into the mobile app industry,” said MATTA Fair oversight committee Jeremiah Lim during a press conference in Wisma MATTA in Fraser Business Park, Kuala Lumpur.
“This is something new that we are introducing and MATTA will be the first fair to utilise this application,” he added.
Merchantrade is a home-grown money services business (MSB) provider in Malaysia and is delighted to offer visitors competitive rates, superior customer service experience and brand trust that customers receive at their normal retail outlets.
They will be offering three kinds of services at the fair – Merchantrade Money Visa Multi-Currency card, eForex online money exchange service and over-the-counter money exchange for the convenience of consumers who want to exchange their foreign currencies.
One of the highlights is its recent innovative services, the Merchantrade Money Visa Multi-Currency prepaid card offers customers value for money as they can lock-in exchange rates at the time of purchase of foreign currencies without additional charges.
In addition, visitors who register for the multi-currency prepaid card at the fair will be entitled to 50% cashback for their first retail transaction from March 16 to April 16 with a maximum spend of RM100.
Currently, the card can hold value in five currencies – Australian Dollar, Pound Sterling, Indonesian Rupiah, Singapore Dollar and US Dollar — and can be used at Visa’s 44 million merchants globally.
The Merchantrade booth will occupy F1 to F4, in Hall 3 of PWTC and will provide facilities for visitors to register for Merchantrade Money outside the hall.
Visitors can also look forward to augmented reality (AR) products such as the eMATTA guidebook, which adds in special AR features on each page that will be handed out at the ticketing counter, interactive AR games, and a huge LED panel that features AR that will bring lots of fun and product awareness to the public by Top Media Resources Sdn Bhd.
The AR game allows visitors to win prizes, while the AR LED Panel includes a Santa Claus Village in Lapland and volcanoes in Hawaii.
Visitors can also take photos with AR created kangaroos and koalas just by standing on specially designed markers at the fair.
From March 11 onwards, the eMATTA mobile app will be downloadable for visitors and it is available for both iOS and Android users.
MATTA chief executive officer Phua Tai Neng said MATTA was also partnering Grab Malaysia to offer discounted rides to and from the three-day fair.
“Through this collaboration, we want to encourage visitors to take public transport or Grab to reduce the number of cars at PWTC and to ensure a convenient and hassle-free journey for them,” he said.
Phua shared that Grab was offering RM4 off for two rides to and from the fair through the promo-code “GRABMATTA18”, which is valid for the first 3,500 rides each day.
“In addition to the discounted rides, Grab will also set up a booth at the foyer of Hall 2 in PWTC to offer visitors the opportunity to get Grab airport ride vouchers at a special rate of 10% off the normal price,” he said, adding that customers can make payment using cash or card, and the vouchers are valid until Dec 31.
Also present at the press conference were Merchantrade money services business chief Sarveswaran Raja Gopal and Top Media Resources Sdn Bhd managing director Amelia Au.
Open from 10am to 9pm, admission is RM4 per person and free for children aged below 12.
