Special task force arrests eight

KLANG police have arrested eight suspects over the many break-ins at shoplots in recent months in the town.

Confirming more than 50 cases at Taman Bayu Perdana, Bandar Bukit Tinggi and Bandar Botanic, South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Shamsul Amar Ramli said the eight, believed to be drug addicts, operated in groups.

The eight, all Malaysians, were either jobless or without steady employment, he added.

“A special task force has been formed and the arrests were made at separate operations at various parts of Klang.

“We have recovered several motorcycles and tools used by them in the break-ins, which matched the evidence as found on video feeds from CCTV recordings,” he said.

With the evidence recovered, Shamsul said all the suspects, who represented three different gangs, had been charged in court.

He said they were charged under Section 457 of the Penal Code for break-in.

“Our men are working very hard to keep the thieves at bay and there has been no new cases of break-ins reported since the last arrest a week ago.

“The suspects have been on the prowl for a few months and caused huge losses to their victims in terms of damages caused to their properties during the break-ins,” he said, adding that they targeted cash and fast moving items from the premises they broke into.

ACP Shamsul said police have intensified operations to fight crime, including house break-ins and robbery.

“We will go all out to nab others who are still at large,” he said.
