SIXTEEN years after scratch-and-display coupons were discontinued, motorists in Petaling Jaya can now once again purchase such coupons for use beginning Sept 4.
The coupon system will be used alongside the existing pay-and-display machines.
The coupons, which comes in three different versions, can be bought at most shops in commercial areas around the city. The shops will be identifiable through a signage that says: "MBPJ parking coupon sold here".
Users can either purchase the hourly booklet which costs RM6 for 10 coupons or the daily booklet which costs RM25 for five coupons.
“All these prices are already inclusive of the GST (goods and services tax) and its still the same price as before, 60 sen an hour,” said Petaling Jaya mayor Datuk Mohd Aziz Mohd Zain at the parking coupon launch earlier today.
Mohd Azizi added that the existing parking machines which are still in good condition can still be used and there are no plans to remove them for now.
So for areas with working parking machines, motorists can choose to either pay via the machine or the scratch-and-display coupons.
