Miri City Council conducts spot checks on businesses

Miri: The City Council (MCC) here has launched ‘Ops Patuh 10’ to check on the licences of business premises.

Mayor Adam Yii said 50 personnel from six departments were involved in the operation.

“MCC enforcement department is tasked with checking the licences of business premises, five-foot-ways, back lanes and parking lots.

“Public health department will look into the cleanliness of these premises.

“MCC engineering section is responsible in ensuring that the premises do not have illegal extension of structures.

“Public cleaning and maintenance (PCM) section will check on the bins and the cleanliness of toilets at the premises.

“The health department will then focus on the overall cleanliness of the business premises under its jurisdiction,” he said.

Yii added that the police were also present during the operations to ensure the safety of officers from the participating agencies.

MCC has designated four target areas which will be visited for inspection.

They are Zone 1 - Morsjaya, Taman Tunku, Taman Jelita; Zone 2 - City Centre, Miri Waterfront, Centrepoint; Zone 3 - Pelita, Boulevard and North Yu Sheng Road and Zone 4 - Permyjaya, Lutong and Senadin.

MCC councillors were also present during the operation and participated in making rounds in the business area near MCC office.
