Work on project expected to finish by October, says general manager

The buffet spread offering guests plenty of choices during Eastin Hotel Penang’s Corporate Appreciation Night.

WORK on the refurbishment project of Eastin Hotel Penang’s 328 rooms is expected to be fully completed by October, said its general manager Justin Chew.

He said almost 40% of the rooms had been refurbished.

“The project started in December last year and to date, four floors of rooms have been completed, including the Soho rooms and family rooms,” Chew said during the hotel’s Corporate Appreciation Night last Friday.

He said the hotel was spending RM25mil on the project.

“The furniture and carpets will be changed. Basically, it’s a total makeover.

“The functions rooms, including the ballroom, have already been refurbished around August last year,” he said.

Chew said it was the first refurbishment project since the hotel opened eight years ago.

The hotel’s corporate clients and business supporters were feted to a scrumptious buffet dinner at the event which was themed The Oscars Night.

Band and dance performances, game shows and a lucky draw were held.

The first prize of a round-trip business class air ticket from Penang to Hong Kong and complimentary business class lounge access was won by B. Braun Medical Industries senior executive Jeannie Ng.

“I am very happy and surprised. I am definitely looking forward to this trip to Hong Kong,” she said.

Jabil Circuit work cell manager Steven Bruyns won the best dressed award for men while Linear Semiconductor administrative clerk Vivian Leo won the category for women.
