It’s back for the second time, a marathon of international stand-up comedy brought to you by Laugh Factory’s Funniest Person in The World Winner – Harith Iskander.
The Kuala Lumpur International Comedy Festival (KLICFest), organised by Harith Iskander V Day Productions, is Kuala Lumpur’s very own and considered by many to be Asia’s best comedy showcase.
The event features some of the biggest and best comedians from around the world who will take the stage to entertain audiences across three consecutive days.
The festival programme, curated by Harith, features performances from the finest Malaysian acts, the biggest international stars and one local legend offering both English and Bahasa Malaysia comedy.
So if you are looking for a remedy of funnies to chase those blues away, Black Box and The Bee in Publika will be the best places to get a dose of non-stop laughter from April 21 to 23.
Directed by Harith and produced by his wife, Jezamine Lim Iskander, the KLICFest is aimed at bringing Malaysians from all walks of life together in solidarity under the one thing that everybody loves – great comedy.
“This year, we are all set to celebrate comedy in style, thanks to some high-octane talent and a typically timely schedule of shows that are sure to have audiences rolling in their seats with laughter.
“After all, they do say that laughter is the best medicine – unless you are actually unwell, then please go see a doctor,” said Harith.
To kick off the laughter frenzy, KLICFest will open its curtains with a massive gala event – “Harith Iskander’s To Know Malaysia, Is To Laugh Malaysia III — on April 18 at the Black Box, Publika.
The gala night will bring together the biggest international stars, popular Malaysian talents and one local legend for a spectacular and hilarious night of comedy.
Featuring acts from international comedy gurus such as Harith (Malaysia), Paul Ogata (the US), Prince Abdi (Somalia), Katerina Vrana (Greece) and Christopher Daley (Jamaica), the gala night will offer audiences a teaser of what is to come at KLICFest 2017.
As for the main event from April 21 to 23, hold on to your seats for a time of side-splitting comedy shows such as Harith’s Making S#it Up, Stendap Komedi 1, Afdlin Shauki’s Standing Up Singing Vol 3, Fakkah Fuzz’s Get the Fuzz, The Angry Indians, and Nabil Ahmad’s MeleSTOP!
To get the best of KLICFest 2017, a daily pass for six shows per day, inclusive of additional two shows on April 21, is available at only RM158.
Love this deal but have no place to leave the kids on a Sunday? Worry not! The kids can be dropped off free of charge for kids’ fun-filled activity sessions organised by Erika Perez Sports Academy while you enjoy laughter on a Sunday with your better half.
The kids’ programme includes Creative Dance at 2pm, Speech and Drama (3pm), Kids Flash Mob (4pm) and Indoor Soccer (5pm).
In line with Harith’s nature and continuous efforts in motivating people to draw positivity and success in life through the power of laughter, the festival will include a motivational talk by him.
The talk will take place on April 23 at 5pm at The Bee, Publika. Tickets are priced at RM45 for adults and RM35 for students.
