More owls to be released in Subang Jaya to catch rats

The public participation is important for the barn owl project in Subang Jaya to be a success and therefore students from Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Sains Malaysia will be conducting surveys to gauge public perception about the project and to inform them on ways they can play a part. UPM and USM will be kicking off their first public survey with 23 students stationed at strategic points in Sunway Metro commercial area to gauge public opinion as well as disseminate key information on barn owls and the project.

THE owls in the Barn Owl Project in Subang Jaya have adapted to living in an urban setting, according to a report by researchers.

The 16 pairs of barn owls were released in Bandar Sunway, SS15 and SS14 11 months ago as a biological approach to eradicate rats in the Subang Jaya municipality.
