Tightening security at border checkpoint up north

THE authorities will beef up security at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah, to prevent foreigners from entering thecountry via the checkpoint undetected.

Kedah police chief Comm Datuk Asri Yusoff said the police, together with the National Security Council and other border security agencies, would look at the best approaches to do so and to solve the smuggling problems at the duty free zone and border fencing here.
