Two teenagers were thanking their lucky stars when they walked away with the top two prizes at the Penang Starwalk 2016 lucky draw.
SMJK (C) Heng Ee student Goh Yong Hern, 17, could not contain his joy when he heard the emcee calling out his number.
“I was hoping to win something today, but I definitely did not expect to win the first prize.
“I just want to participate in the walk with my friends and have a good time,” he said after receiving the top prize from YTL Communications Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Wing K. Lee.
Yong Hern, who won a 3D2N stay at Tanjung Jara Resort and a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, said he would be giving the resort stay to his parents.
“I want them (parents) to go on a holiday and unwind,” he said, adding that he would use his new smartphone.
Lady luck also smiled on SMJK Chung Hwa Confucian student Oh Jin Yang, 16, who won a Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro and a 3D2N stay at Tanjong Jara Resort in Terengganu.
Jin Yang said he did not expect to win the second prize.
“I guess it’s time to change my old phone to this new Samsung Galaxy smartphone,” said Oh.
During the prize presentation ceremony, Star Media Group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai said 40,000 participants would be the target for the 40th edition of Penang Starwalk next year.
“We hope to get a car as a grand prize,” he said.
Another 20 lucky winners also walked away with Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A5, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 with S Pen and mountain bikes.
Joining them at the ceremony were Starwalk 2016 chairman Simone Liong, who is also Star Media Group regional operations general manager (north), and Penang Amateur Athletic Association president Datuk Syed Mohd Aidid Syed Murtaza.
