SIBU: Long-serving chairman of Sarawak Central Region Hotels Association, Johnny Wong is expected to continue his position at the forthcoming annual general meeting of the association.
Speaking at a press conference, Wong – who has been the chairman for more than 10 years – said he had long wanted to see new blood in the chairman seat but there was no taker.
The AGM is scheduled for tomorrow at Li Hua Hotel to elect the office-bearer for the 2016-2018 term.
“At this moment, I do not know who will replace me but it is likely that I may have to continue.
“I have always asked for someone younger to lead the association but nobody is interested,” he added.
The association currently has more than 60 members who are hotel owners in this town, Sarikei, Mukah and Kapit.
Wong reminded members to turn up for the meeting so that it could proceed as planned.
