Car company launches new system to track vehicles in storage yards

MAZDA Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MMSB) and its logistics arm Mazda Logistics Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MLM) have launched an Autoyard Management System (AMS), which will be used by Mazda in Malaysia.

The autoyard inside Inokom Corporation Sdn Bhd will cater for all Mazda vehicles being manufactured there. The AMS system requires all cars to undergo mandatory scanning before they can proceed to the next station.

The system can also be tweaked to track cars according to their model, chassis number, country of delivery, colour and customisation level.

At the launch, MLM president Shinji Sakatani said the system will smoothen the flow of the cars with zero mistake at its storage location.

“AMS will be able to manage all records of vehicles that enter and exit the yard, wrapping operations and even at the dedicated parking locations.

“Previously, all this was done manually, chalking up higher operating cost as well as higher discrepancies due to human error.

“The implementation of this system will overcome those issues,” he said.

Also present at the launch were PKT Logistics Group Chief Executive and Managing Director Datuk Michael Tio, Inokom Corp Managing Director Rizal Jailan, Mazda Malaysia Director Kozo Ikehara and Northern Corridor Implementation Authority Logistics Director Syed Ahmad Safarudin.
