Road closure in KL for Wesak tomorrow

A devotee fixing light bulbs and putting the final touches on a float with a Buddha statue at the Buddhist Maha Vihara in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. The float will be used for the Wesak procession on Saturday

Several roads around Kuala Lumpur will be closed to traffic tomorrow ( May 21) evening in conjunction with the annual Wesak procession.

The procession will begin at the Buddhist Maha Vihara temple in Brickfields at 7pm. 

It will then make its way into major roads in the city starting from Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad into Jalan Tun Sambanthan before passing by Jalan Petaling. 

The procession continues along Jalan Yap Ah Loy, Jalan Hang Lekiu, Jalan Gereja, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Pudu and Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock before heading back to the temple.

Roads will be closed in stages and those planning to head to the city for the event are advised to take public transport.
