THE Selangor state government may face interrogations by the police following two reports lodged against them.
The Say No to SUKE (SNTS) and Say No To Dash (SNTD) teams lodged two separate police reports over the Sungai Besi Ulu Kelang Expressway (SUKE) and Damansara Shah Alam Expressway (DASH) projects.
The reports were made over the state’s unlawful conduct in processing and handling of both highways.
SNTS chairman Agos Hassan Ashari said they were forced to do so as the state had failed to give them a written response to their queries.
“ It is very disappointing, we have been trying to discuss with them through formal letters but they are not willing to discuss with us, maybe they will be able discuss with the police then,” he added.
He said the projects must be included in the local plan as stated in the Town and Country Planning Act before it can be taken into consideration.
“If the projects are not mentioned in the local plans it must be automatically rejected by the government,” added Agos Hassan.
Their last official meeting was held in January this year with the state infrastructure chairman Zaidy Talib.
He said this during a joint press conference with SNTD representatives at the state secretariate in Shah Alam earlier today.
SNTD representative Mak Khuin Weng also said the group was resorting to such measure as the state government had refused to respond.
“We have no other avenue, we have texted them and called them but there was no response.
We will exhaust whatever options we have as we proceed including taking legal actions,” he added.
The land acquisitions for both highways have proceeded without the projects being included in the local plan.
The highways were announced back in 2012 and residents have been protesting since.
Both groups will later submit objections to the state government in addition to the 5000 objections submitted last week.
