Sarawak mulls alternative energy for rural areas


MIRI: Sarawak will introduce a new initiative to ease the financial burden of communities relying on diesel-powered generators in remote areas of the state.

Sarawak Public Utilities Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the new initiative has been named Sarawak Alternatives Rural Electrification Scheme (SARES) in line with the state's rural transformation initiatives to ensure the electricity was available for all.
