THERE is a need to standardise Bahasa Malaysia taught in Tamilvernacular primary schools (SJKT) to be at the same level as that taught in national primary schools.

Datuk Dr Denison Jayasooria, a principal research fellow at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Institute of Ethnic Studies (Kita), said the standardisation was needed so that students could cope with Bahasa Malaysia when they study in national secondary schools.
