Scraping the barrel

FIFTEEN to 20 small-scale flood mitigation projects are approved annually in Penang as short term measures to overcome flash floods.

State Local Government, Traffic Manage-ment and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the money for these projects came from the drainage contribution of developers and a limited amount from the state budget.
