State secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan said the Muallim district, with a total area of 93,434.65ha encompassing the towns of Tanjung Malim, Slim and Proton City, would be the 11th in the state.
“Sultan Nazrin will declare the new district in a ceremony to be held at the Tanjung Malim District Council on Jan 11 next year,” he told reporters on Thursday.
Other events to be held in conjunction with the celebration include the Sultan Nazrin Shah Birthday Run at Jalan Tun Razak, Ipoh, Kuala Kangsar, on Sunday (Nov 29), a Tenpin Bowling competition at the Ampang Superbowl Ipoh Parade (Dec 20), a royal concert coinciding with the opening of the RTM Perak building in Ipoh (Jan 9), and the Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Muzakarah at the state secretariat banquet hall (Jan 25).
The ruler will also be opening the TNB Jana Manjung 4 power plant in Manjung on Jan 4, the Taiping Advanced Technology Training Centre (ADTEC) in Kamunting Raya (Feb 23), the Kampar district council building (Mac 1), the National Child Development Research Centre at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris in Tanjung Malim (Mac 19), the Malaysian Statistics Training Institute building in Sungkai (Mac 29), SK Tanah Hitam in Chemor (Apr 5), the General Operations Force 18th Battalion Camp in Pengkalan Hulu (Apr 23), and Perak Agro Tourism Resort in Tanjung Tualang (Apr 30).
Meanwhile, Sultan Nazrin will be conferring a total of 703 awards, including six posthumously, at the Balairong Seni at Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar, today.
