Klang Baha’i community holds multi-religious National Day celebration

THE presence of representatives of various religious groups marked a successful devotional session organised by the Klang Baha’i Community in conjunction with the National Day celebration.

More than 100 people from various races and religions took part in the programme which saw the recital of prayers by Muslim, Hindu, Christian and Buddhist representatives.

The session also covered prayer chants by youths of the Baha’i community.

The event started with the singing of Negaraku by everyone present. The youths then performed several unity songs followed by the cutting of a Jalur Gemilang-decorated cake.

This was followed by high-tea which provided the opportunity for the guests to get to know each other.

Klang Baha’i community representative Lim Thiam Lock said the programme was a success as there was a good turnout.

He said the Baha’i community had made the National Day devotional an annual event and it was a joy as prayers from all the religions were recited for the unity of the nation.

“This reflects the true Malaysian spirit,’’ he said.

More than 100 people participated in the event.

National Unity and Integration Department deputy director-general for religious affairs, Lee Cheng Kiik, who was present at the function also expressed his support for the event.

“I hope we can have more devotional gatherings involving participants of all religious groups,” he added.
