BRYNN Zalina Lovett, 22, has made her home state Sabah proud by beating 18 other finalists to win the coveted Miss Malaysia World 2015 crown during the grand final night in Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

The beauty queen of Australian-Malaysian parentage will represent Malaysia in the Miss World 2015 pageant in Sanya, China.

Miss Malaysia World 2014 Dewi Liana Seriestha was present to crown her successor.

In addition to her win, the icing on the cake for Lovett was also winning three subsidiary titles, namely Miss Fitness, Miss Wacoal and Miss Talent.

During the event, the beauties wowed the audience with their individual talent performances while the finalists showed their prowess on the catwalk by modelling Laura Ashley outfits, Funfit Swimwear and elegant wear sponsored by Tatiana Boutique.

The event also saw a Wacoal Lingerie fashion show with supermodels.

Not to be outshone, Dewi impressed the crowd with her vocal chops and stage presence when she sang three songs including I Believe I Can Fly by R&B singer R. Kelly.

In her speech, pageant organiser Datuk Anna Lim said there was a wide mix of talents this year.

They comprised entrepreneurs, professional dancers and even a doctor.

Lim said the competition was about more than having good looks and a stunning body, adding that participants should also have a charming personality.

During the press conference, Lovett explained that her twin sister participated in the competition last year and whose experience had helped her in the pageant.

The dancer and certified swim instructor cited overcoming her fear of public speaking as one of her challenges during the competition.

The finale also saw Johor Baru’s Serene Chai, 21, named first runner-up; Penangite Melinda Lee, 24, as second runner-up; Ipoh native Catherine Chow, 26, as third runner-up and Sabahan Natasha Aprillia, 21, as fourth runner-up.
