THE Hulu Selangor District Council (MDHS) has ordered Ramadan bazaar traders operating from inside the Tesco Bukit Beruntung, Rawang carpark to move to a new site.
On Thursday, MDHS enforcement officers went to the site to ensure traders did not erect tents or sell items there.
In a press statement, MDHS said the hypermarket had appointed a company, De Juara Raziq Catering, to handle the Ramadan Bazaar there.
An application for a permit was submitted to MDHS on June 3 but it was rejected by the licensing committee on June 4, taking into account the location and traders’ impact on Ramadan bazaars organised by the council throughout the district.
On June 10, MDHS had sent a letter to the company and hypermarket on the rejection but the traders refused to accept it.
MDHS then held a discussion with the hypermarket at 10am on June 18 and traders would be given until 1pm on the same day to remove their belongings, including tents, from the site or they would be penalised.
MDHS said it had offered the traders an option to relocate to Jalan Kantan, Bukit Beruntung, Rawang but they refused to move initially.
The traders agreed to move to the Jalan Kantan location later.
