Innovative: The six delegates from the state at the forum.

SIBU: The World Cities Summit Mayors Forum 2015 was held from June 8 to 10 in New York City.

The forum, organised by the Singapore government, was an exclusive, by-invitation-only global platform for city leaders to discuss pressing urban challenges and share best practices.

The forum focused on “Innovative Cities of Opportunity” to foster the discussion on best practices in urban policy innovation and encourage collaboration among city leaders.

The discussion surrounded four main themes – housing and economic development, transportation and mobility, sustainability and resiliency and education and competitiveness.

A delegation from Sarawak attended the said forum.

The six-member delegation included Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai, Kuching North City Hall Mayor Dr Saadiah Abdul Samat, Kuching North City Hall director Datuk James Chan Khay Syn, Kuching South City Hall Mayor, Lilian Liew, Kuching South City Hall public relations and corporate development officer Datuk Tiong Thai King, Sibu Municipal Council chairman and Sibu Municipal Council secretary Hii Chang Kee.
