Storm hits 266 homes


About 177 families and some 500 victims were affected in a storm and flash flood that hit several areas in Kluang on Tuesday (June 2) at around 6.30pm.

KLUANG: The fierce storm that wreaked havoc in eight residential areas on Tuesday night saw a concerted clean-up effort by various government agencies, volunteer groups and members of the community since the night of the incident.

The clean-up iniative by SWM Environment Sdn Bhd, Kluang Municipal Council, Civil Defense Department, Johor Welfare Department, Malaysian Red Crescent Society, Kluang Fire and Rescue Department, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, the police, Association of Policemen’s Families (Perkep) and People’s Volunteer Cops (Rela) comprised 104 personnel.
